how to get to rios lodge

rafting or hiking

Getting here is an adventure! The Rios Lodge is located on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, on a private rainforest reserve of 1,000 hectares in Limon Province. The lodge sits right beside the pristine Pacuare River and immediately upstream of the beginning of the renowned Pacuare Gorge white water section. There is no vehicle access to our rainforest resort. All guests, staff, and supplies get to the lodge either by raft or by hiking in on foot. Guests can raft into the lodge on the gentler river section, and hike out to avoid the bigger whitewater below the lodge. This is perfect for families with participants too young to raft the lower Pacuare section. Learn more in our FAQ.

Raft to the lodge

Raft the beautiful Pacuare River to get to our remote lodge! For ages 6+ (to lodge) and ages 12+ (departing lodge).

Hike to the lodge

Hike in the lush rainforest to get to and from our remote eco lodge. For ages 6+, along 1.5km / 0.9mi trail.

Discover the Rios Lodge Difference

Rios Lodge is much more than a great place to stay for a cool Costa Rica adventure vacation! We have sustainability and conservation at the forefront of everything we do. Our mission is to expand conservation partnerships and projects in the Pacuare River Basin, while being regenerative stewards here at the Lodge. We are supporting science projects in the primary rainforest properties, helping to reforest secondary rainforest pasture land, and are developing biodiversity metrics to steward the conservation legacy of Rafael (Rafa) Gallo in the Pacuare River watershed since 1985.

Yes, it's isolated which is all part of lodge's endearing charm. You can choose to join the guides on their conducted forest walks, including bathing in rock pools, or do your own thing on the local trails.

Stayed here with my G adventures group. SO MUCH FUN! It was my most favourite thing to do and I also did canyoning, zip wiring, mountain biking and other stuff. The raft guys are also the chefs and work so hard to prepare varied, delicious meals. So impressed and stunning setting too. Go go go!!

We just wanted to say what a fabulous stay we had with you. We stayed in the honeymoon suite, rafted in and out and also had a private romantic dinner on the terrace. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food which Luca cooked for us at the private dinner and other meals was outstanding. Our guide Oger was also brilliant, very knowledgeable and friendly. Journey in and out was very exciting and lovely breakfast on the way out. We were very sad to leave, an absolutely excellent stay and beautiful location - thank you so much.
