We have been serving school and university groups since Rios Lodge was first established by Rios Tropicales. The lodge is the ideal location for scientific research, conservation projects, and experiential education programs. We have a long history of serving youth from age 12 through university level masters and PhD programs.  

Many wedding parties will book out the entire Rios Lodge and have access to all Lodge amenities, take over the restaurant (customizing a menu), and have privacy and seclusion for their group. Photography and additional services can be coordinated with the Rios Lodge staff. Other wedding parties reserve a block of rooms and enjoy a variety of personalized and group meals and activities. Rios Lodge adventure stays make for incredible, memorable bachelor and bachelorette parties. We have everything you need to celebrate with your friends on this special occasion. Choose from one of the Basic Lodge Stay packages for 2, 3, or 4 nights, either hiking in or rafting in. (Most bachelor and bachelorette groups choose the Pacuare white water rafting option). We’ll work with your group to create customized adventure activities, special meals, optional massage packages, and festive add-ons like salsa dancing lessons on the river view pavilion. The Rios Lodge is a great venue for family retreats as it caters to all ages. Grandparents enjoy time birdwatching and reading books on the decks while kids enjoy swimming in the waterfall pools, plunging down the natural waterslide or ziplining, above the Lodge. We encourage guests to be age 6 or above. We have found that this minimum age allows parents and guests to fully enjoy the Lodge property and amenities. We can group families within one area of the Lodge and provide private guided experiences.

Rios Lodge is an excellent venue for a corporate retreat or incentive trips. We have the ability to segregate a group within their own building to facilitate a more intimate experience within the larger Lodge setting. We will design your corporate trip itinerary specific to your timing needs and physical capability of your group. We can incorporate a number of adventure elements that all people can participate in or have a higher adventure component that is catered more to a physically fit group.

The roots of Rios Lodge run deep in paddling. Founded by Rafael Gallo and his childhood friends Fernando Esquivel and Jimmy Nixon, these guys were all about kayaking and rafting. Many people view yoga retreats as a way to rejuvenate, create introspection and healing, and provide a nurturing experience for themselves. The Rios Lodge helps you unplug and focus on these important elements. Guided by internationally acclaimed yoga instructors, these retreats offer deep immersion into the benefits of yoga within an extraordinary, natural wilderness setting.

Yoga retreats take place in the new groups retreat center within the Lodge grounds. This enables the group to have their own yoga practice area, meditation areas, common areas intimate within the group, and private deluxe rooms or shared ecohostel bunkrooms. Meals are shared experiences within the context of the larger Lodge in the common restaurant area with the rest of the Lodge guests.

 Conservation is the reason why Rios Lodge exists. You can make a difference on your group experience by joining us to plant native hardwood trees as part of our decades-long reforestation programs of secondary rainforest within our 2000 acre private reserve.  This is available only for groups, and only in certain times of year based on the growing season.

We are glad to help you create your own custom event or special retreat for your group.  We have 17 rooms at the lodge currently, in a mix of  Classic Rooms, Deluxe Rooms, and Suites with double and triple bed configurations that can accommodate up to 44 guests.
