What kind of rapids will I experience rafting into and out of the lodge?
You'll raft into the lodge on the upper section of the Pacuare River, which offers a wonderful introduction to the river with Class 2 and 3 rapids. When you raft out, you'll experience the lower section of the Pacuare River, which features thrilling Class 3 and 4 rapids through the Pacuare Gorge!
How challenging are the hikes?
Our hiking trails range from easy to moderately challenging. Since the lodge is nestled in the mountains along the Pacuare River, all hikes involve some elevation gain and loss, offering a true rainforest experience. You'll be immersed in dense tropical vegetation and vibrant wildlife!
Do I need prior experience for activities like rafting or ziplining?
No prior experience is needed for rafting into the lodge or for ziplining while at the lodge! Our expert guides make it easy and ensure you're well-prepared and trained in safety procedures for all activities. Moderate fitness is helpful in order to fully enjoy the adventures.
Can I go white water kayaking?
Yes, we love to host kayakers! You must be proficient enough to paddle Class 2, 3, and 4 rapids safely. You can bring your own kayak, or we can help you rent gear. Kayakers paddle into and out of the lodge with our fully guided rafting trips. Please contact Rios Lodge directly to set up a kayaking stay. 🛶
What kind of wildlife might I see or hear?
You're in a vibrant tropical rainforest, so expect to see a rich array of wildlife! This includes monkeys, sloths, toucans, and many other bird species. Our guides are experts in spotting and identifying the incredible biodiversity around the lodge.
