Sellwood Yoga Retreat: Recharge in the Rainforest

Join Sellwood Yoga for a deep immersion into yoga, adventure, and rainforest wonder at the acclaimed Rios Lodge on Costa Rica’s Pacuare River. This retreat blends active experiences with mindful relaxation to help participants recharge body and spirit.

Up to two classes a day (morning and late afternoon), offered in a variety of styles, such as Vinyasa Flow, Restorative, and Yin. All classes are optional and will be taught by either Savonn or Stacey. All yoga props and mats are supplied by the lodge including blocks, straps, and bolsters. The brand-new yoga deck with sweeping views of the river is covered from above with open sides, allowing for protection from the sun while offering the enjoyment of practicing outside. 🌊 Active Adventures & Exploration

  • Pacuare River Whitewater Rafting — Two exciting rafting excursions to and from the lodge along the famous Pacuare River with expert, safety-oriented local guides (option to skip rafting and hike instead).
  • Guided Rainforest Hikes — Explore the rainforest’s ecosystems and hidden gems with expert guides. Hikes may include:
    • Matsu Creek Hike (Waterslide Creek) — A fun, immersive creek walk with natural swimming pools and waterfalls.
    • El Tigre Waterfall Hike — Includes a cable crossing over the Pacuare River and a lush tributary swimming spot.
    • Hummingbird Morning Garden Hike — Discover tropical flora and fauna around the lodge gardens.
    • Night Hike — A slow, guided walk into the rainforest at night to observe nocturnal wildlife.
  • Zipline Canopy Tour — Fly across the Pacuare River gorge on an 8-line zipline course with stunning rainforest views. Tiger
  • Heron River Tubing — Enjoy a guided Class I–II tubing experience down the river with safety briefing and fun rapids.

  • Curated Yoga Classes with Savonn & Stacey — Up to two classes per day (morning & late afternoon) in various styles such as Vinyasa Flow, Restorative, and Yin. All classes are optional.
  • Yoga Deck with River Views — Practice outdoors beneath a covered, open-aired deck overlooking the Pacuare River.
  • All Yoga Props Provided — Including blocks, straps, bolsters, and more.

Meet Your Retreat Leaders

 

Savonn Wyland

With over 25 years of teaching experience, Savonn brings a grounded, skillful, and inspiring presence to her classes. Her teaching blends precise, detailed instruction with a deep respect for personal expression, creating a supportive and transformative experience for students of all levels. Savonn’s classes, workshops, and retreats are thoughtfully designed to help students deepen their practice, connect more fully with themselves, and feel part of a welcoming community.

She has been leading international retreats for over 15 years, with past destinations including the Italian Alps in the Dolomites, the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia, the island of Madeira and Algarve region of Portugal, the Tuscany region of Italy, and both coastal and inland areas of Costa Rica—as well as Panama, Mexico, Nicaragua, France, and Morocco. This will be her third time at Rios Lodge, and she’s excited to share the magic of the Pacuare River and the warmth and inspiration of the incredible team who help bring the lodge to life.


Stacey Degen

A lifelong student of nature, health, and well-being, Stacey (Licensed Acupuncturist, Practitioner of Chinese Medicine & Health Advocate) has spent the past 30 years working with people of all abilities in the outdoors—co-leading retreats around the world and empowering individuals to live their best lives. As a Licensed Acupuncturist and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, her true passion lies in helping others deepen their connection to mind, body, and spirit while awakening the body’s natural healing capabilities. Stacey seamlessly weaves the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine into her yoga classes, creating unique, one-of-a-kind experiences that reflect her dedication and decades of expertise.
